Best Glue Remover for Hair Extensions 2020 & How to Use it

You can still use the tape-ins that you have removed if you have a good quality glue remover that won’t damage your hair extensions. Poor quality glue remover can make the extensions sticky and gooey. It will be difficult to eliminate the stickiness, and your extensions will become unusable.

It is not that easy to choose the glue remover that works but using the right one can help you maintain the quality and shape of your extensions as well as your natural hair. Here are some of the best glue removers for extensions that you can try.

1. Eden Hair Extensions Bundle

The Big Eden Bundle comes with two bottles of tape-in removers to give you the most effective way of removing the extensions without causing damage to your natural hair. It does not turn the tape-in extensions into smithereens before you can remove them all. You still can get your extensions in large pieces. Eden glue can remove the extensions without tugging a single strand of your natural hair. Your natural hair will not sustain any damage during the removal of the extensions.

The Eden Extensions bundle contains 2 removers:

- Remover 1 (8-ounce bottle of Release & Reuse)

This is an oil-free tape-in remover that can neutralize the tape’s stickiness. You will be able to remove the hair extensions in large pieces instead of small parts.

- Remover 2 (4-ounce bottle of Remove & Residue)

This is an oil-based remover designed to take care of the sticky residue, which the tape-ins left behind on your natural hair after they have been removed. You don’t need to worry about cutting your locks just to get rid of the sticky residue.

How to Use

- First, spray a sufficient amount of Remover 1 to the tape of the sandwiched hair.

- Insert the tip of a metal comb between the sandwiched panels and slide it slowly back and forth. Spray again.

- Let the solution sit for 10 to 30 seconds and allow the solvent to neutralize the adhesive.

- After 30 seconds, pull the extensions gently from your hair. You should be able to remove each extension in one large piece without pulling your hair. There should be no shedding of your natural hair.

- Once the extensions have all been removed, you can start applying Remover 2 on the sticky parts of your natural hair. Pinch out the residue.

- Do the same to all sticky areas.

- After clearing the residue, you can now wash your hair using your favorite shampoo. You may need to shampoo twice.

Seeing some falling hair is natural because you shed between 50 and 100 strands of hair per day.

2. X10 Pro-Tools D Bond Gel Remover

This gel remover is easy to use and specially formulated to remove tape-ins, plastic tubes, keratin bonds, and U-tip. It is best to use on fusion or keratin bond extensions. It is safe, fast, and effective. It only takes a few pumps for the remover to start working. It does not emit an unpleasant odor, and it is recommended by professionals. However, it is alcohol-based that can cause dryness. You should wear gloves when using this product.

How to Use

- To remove fusions bond extensions, apply the solvent on rear and front of 6 adjacent bonded regions at once.

- Clamp down on the bond a few times using a removal tool. This can help separate the fused strands.

- Comb out the residue carefully and gently.

- Shampoo your hair thoroughly after removing the extensions and apply the treatment as you normally do.

3. Salon Pro 30 Sec Hair Bond Remover

The Salon Pro 30 Sec adhesive remover comes in a 4-ounce bottle. Like Eden Hair Extensions bundle, it can effectively remove the tape-in extensions without damaging your natural hair. It does not leave sticky bits on your scalp and hair. It even emits a pleasant smell upon application. It is safe to use on extensions that use adhesives.

How to Use

- Lift up the extension that you wish to remove and apply the remover onto the bond. Use a Q-tip to massage the solvent into the bond and wait for it to loosen completely.

- Once done, remove the extension gently and be careful not to pull.

- Use a fine-toothed comb to remove the remaining bond on the hair.

- Cleanse the scalp and hair with a shampoo, preferably Salon Pro Remover Shampoo, while removing the glue residue.

In most cases, the time that you need to spend in removing the adhesive depends on the quality of the adhesives that the hair extensions have.
